In the late 1880s Avocado trees and lush vegetation covered the quiet hillsides and oceanfront land of modern day Leucadia, CA. This beach is popular for surfing, swimming and fishing. Beacon’s Beach has limited sand, and can at times be strewn with pebbles, but nonetheless still makes for a nice lazy afternoon picnic. Neptune Avenue runs along Pacific coastline above Beacon’s Beach and offers outdoor enthusiasts a place to run, bike, or walk and enjoy the never ending sunshine. Grandview beach is the northernmost beach in Leucadia and is a unit of the State Park System.

Through the center of Leucadia runs the Historic Hwy 101, flanked on either side by signs of rustic small town beach charm. Leucadia is a modern beach town still living in the past. The population is under 6,500 residents and showing no signs of overcrowding. Leucadia has been called the “Sleepy Hollow” of California. Once outside of the community, you are emerged in the hustle and bustle of modern day America with two of the largest cities in the country only miles away.

The residents of Leucadia have many options in education for their children. The two public school districts are Leucadia Union Elementary District and San Dieguito Union High School District. For those residents looking to live and work in the community, Leucadia derives its main economy from horticulture and tourism, especially along Historic Hwy 101 which provides shopping, dining and entertainment.
